‘SNL’ recap: Best moments from Inde Navarrette hosting ‘Saturday Night Live’
Comedian Inde Navarrette hosted the October 31, 2026 episode of “Saturday Night Live,” with Gracie Abrams as musical guest.

Halloween was in the air as “SNL” returned to the air for the fourth episode of its 52nd season on Saturday, with actress Inde Navarrette as host and Gracie Abrams as musical guest.
Navarrette, who was an unknown until this year’s breakout hit horror movie “Obsession,” was making her debut appearance on “SNL.” Abrams, meanwhile, was back for her second performance, having previously guested during Chris Rock’s episode in December 2024.
With Navarrette’s horror movie bonafides, the actress fit right in for this week’s Halloween vibes. The show kicked off with a reprisal of the famous David S. Pumpkins sketch, with Tom Hanks returning as the bizarre haunted attraction star and former cast member Bobby Moynihan rejoining Mikey Day as a b-boy skeleton.
Because this was the cold open, David S. Pumpkins was interrupted by another orange guy who came to prominence in 2016: President Donald Trump (James Austin Johnson). Joining him were pop star (and possible future press secretary?) Nicki Minaj (Saidah Belo-Osagie), as well as quickly-fired press secretary Katie Zacharia (Veronika Slowikowska).
The cameos weren’t limited to the intro, though. Moynihan returned to the Weekend Update desk as his beloved correspondent Drunk Uncle. Excited that “a beer” had won the World Series, a trio of Milwaukee Brewers (left fielder Christian Yelich, second baseman Brice Turang, and manager Pat Murphy) made an appearance.
The show also had a nice tribute to the late Patrick Stewart, briefly playing his enthusiastic introduction of musical guest Salt-N-Pepa during a 1994 episode, which former “SNL” writer John Mulaney later paid tribute to in his stand-up set.
As has been the case for most of Season 52, the best sketches this week were the pre-taped ones. In “New Airline Class,” Delta introduce tickets for irredeemably awful people, while “The Inventor’s Wife” is a slow-burn short film from Dan Bulla with shades of Tim Burton and a sublimely ridiculous finish.
