Review & setlist: A$AP Rocky turns TD Garden into a massive moshpit
Despite technical hiccups, the rapper delivered a high-energy spectacle that kept the audience moving all night in his Boston stop of the “Don’t Be Dumb” World Tour.

A$AP Rocky at TD Garden, Boston, June 2, 2026.
A helicopter hovered above the TD Garden floor, its spotlight sweeping across thousands of fans packed into the arena. Sirens blared through the speakers as figures dressed in white shirts, ski masks, and scarves sprinted through the crowd, pursued by performers dressed as SWAT officers.
Then, unexpectedly, the spotlight locked onto the center of a moshpit on the arena floor.
From the middle of the crowd, A$AP Rocky began performing “Grim Freestyle” before transitioning into “Trunks,” sending fans into a frenzy. Audience members jumped and danced around the rapper with their phones aloft to capture the moment, while some waved shirts and scarves overhead.
The theatrical entrance set the tone for the rest of Rocky’s “Don’t Be Dumb” World Tour stop at TD Garden on Tuesday night: loud, chaotic, and relentlessly energetic.
Over roughly two hours, Rocky performed more than 30 songs, mixing fan favorites such as “Praise the Lord,” “Slob on My Knob,” and “Fashion Killa,” with tracks from “Don’t Be Dumb,” his fourth studio album. Released in January and featuring cover art by filmmaker Tim Burton, the album marked Rocky’s long-awaited return to solo-studio work as his first album in nearly eight years.
A New York City native, A$AP Rocky has seen a recent surge in his career, winning the NAACP Image Awards‘ Vanguard Award for Fashion this year and appearing in A24 films “Highest 2 Lowest” and “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You” last year. And his standout performance at TD Garden only added to that momentum.
The production itself was among the most ambitious elements of the show. Flashing, colorful lights illuminated the arena, while thick clouds of smoke rolled across the stage. Periodic fireworks sparked outbursts of applause from the audience.
The helicopters — actually fabricated replicas of military choppers — remained a central fixture of the show. After starting the show by performing in the moshpit, Rocky descended from one of the helicopters onto the stage. Rocky also utilized a specialized microphone that mimicked the appearance of a megaphone during his set.
While the show did not feature traditional backup dancers, Rocky was accompanied by roughly 50 performers dressed as a SWAT team. The group frequently marched across the stage in formation and occasionally broke into synchronized dance movements. The performers’ presence helped add another layer of visual energy to the performance by filling the massive arena space, though their potential felt somewhat underutilized in certain moments.
The concert also featured guest appearances from A$AP Twelvyy, Tommy Revenge, and Thoto. Rather than relying on a traditional opening act, Rocky integrated collaborators directly into the show.
The chemistry among the performers was evident. Through dancing and hyping up the audience, the group’s performance helped maintain momentum and prevented the show from feeling repetitive during its nearly two-hour runtime.
One of the night’s most spectacular aspects was how the energy never subsided.
Rocky performed with little downtime between songs, often transitioning directly from one track to another. When he did take brief pauses, he would interact with the audience, which became one of the defining aspects of Rocky’s performance.
Rather than positioning himself as a distant arena performer, Rocky consistently encouraged crowd participation. He repeatedly instructed fans to get louder, move more, and dance in moshpits. At one point, he challenged the audience to expand an existing moshpit — and fans quickly responded.
During “Purple Swag,” Rocky waved a sparkling purple bra above his head, drawing cheers from the crowd. In songs such as “PUNK ROCKY,” he encouraged fans to clap along the beat.
That emphasis on participation appeared intentional throughout the night. Rocky frequently encouraged fans to spend less time looking at their phone screens and “live in the moment,” he said.
“I’m not making any excuses. All I know is I’m at this show with 100 percent,” Rocky told the crowd at one point. “I came to see that y’all, Boston show. I’m gonna need that energy up all f—king night.”
That theme of rallying the crowd was a constant. Rocky’s performance harped less on delivering a technically perfect show and instead focused on creating an environment where fans felt involved in the experience. His greatest success came not through elaborate visuals or special effects but through his ability to motivate thousands of people to move together.
However, not every aspect of the concert was flawless.
The most noticeable issue was the delayed start. The show began more than an hour after its scheduled start time, with no opening act.
Technical difficulties also surfaced through the night. At several points, Rocky’s microphone sounded choppy, making portions of his vocals difficult to understand. Later in the show, Rocky stopped the show to address audio issues he was having.
“People paid good money to see a f—king great show,” he said.
After briefly leaving the stage to speak with members of the crew, Rocky returned and resumed the performance.
Reports from previous stops, such as Chicago, on the “Don’t Be Dumb” World Tour have noted that Rocky has paused concerts for similar technical concerns.
Still, the technical issues ultimately did little to diminish the crowd’s enthusiasm.
By the end of the night, fans remained packed into the moshpit long after the final song concluded. Many lingered on the floor until the venue’s lights were turned on.
Despite the delayed start and audio issues, Rocky delivered an electric performance that showcased his strengths as a live entertainer.
