Woman under arrest after person found dead on houseboat in Charlestown marina

A woman is facing charges after a person was found dead late Sunday on a houseboat at a Charlestown marina.Police were called at 10:43 p.m. to Shipway Place, which is between the Navy Shipyard and Charlestown Marina. Upon arrival, officers found one person dead.Nora Nelson, 24, of Boston, was arrested at the scene on unrelated warrants and is expected to be arraigned on Tuesday in Boston Municipal Court. She is currently not charged in connection with the death.Chad Johansen, who lives on a boat in the marina, said a man who owns the boat police were focused on is a lawyer in his 60s and has lived in the area for about six years.”It’s a tight-knit community — about 60-70 people during the winter — type of community where you can ask people for milk and eggs and to look over your place. So to have this kind of police presence and this kind of activity is very concerning, especially where the gentleman whose boat they’re looking at, friendly, well spoken nice guy. They won’t tell us anything about what’s going on, just very sketchy,” Johansen said.Johansen also said his neighbor, who lives alone with his two dogs, hasn’t been seen in a couple of days. “They asked us some questions about when we last saw the gentleman who owns the boat, which was about four to five days ago,” Johansen said.Police haven’t yet confirmed if the houseboat owner was the person who was found dead. An autopsy will determine how the victim died.Investigators spent all day Monday and into the evening taking photos and collecting evidence from the scene.The Boston Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating.
