Police in Somerset, Massachusetts, were investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle early Saturday morning that left two people dead. Somerset police said the crash happened at the Route 103 rotary around 1:15 a.m. Saturday. When first responders arrived at the scene, police discovered a motorcycle and a vehicle with two victims lying in the roadway.Police said a male victim, who is believed to be the operator of the motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the scene. A female victim, who is believed to be a passenger on the motorcycle, was transported to a nearby hospital where she was later pronounced dead. The identities of the victims were not immediately released by police. The driver of the vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital out of an abundance of caution, according to police.Police said the preliminary investigation suggests the motorcycle entered the rotary in the wrong direction, colliding with the vehicle. Investigators with the Somerset Police Department were working with the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section Unit and Detectives assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office to investigate the collision.
