Severe Thunderstorm Warnings up for parts of eastern, northern Mass.

THIS IS A STORMTEAM 5 WEATHER ALERT. GOOD FRIDAY AFTERNOON, EVERYONE. WE HAVE SEVERAL SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNINGS IN EFFECT. YOU CAN SEE ALL THE AREA SHADED IN YELLOW HERE. ANYWHERE FROM 315 TO 345 IN REGARDS TO EXPIRATION TIME. SO YOU CAN SEE THE HEAVIEST RAIN REALLY CURRENTLY MAKING ITS WAY TOWARDS THE NORTH SHORE. THE WORST OF IT WILL MAKE ITS WAY OUT TO SEA BY THE TIME WE GET TO ROUND 345 TO 4:00 PM. THIS AFTERNOON. BUT YOU CAN SEE QUITE A BIT OF LIGHTNING WITH THIS CLUSTER OF SHOWERS AND STORMS. AND AFTER THIS MOVES THROUGH, WE MAY STILL BE TRACKING A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNINGS OR A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS AS WELL FOR THE REMAINDER OF THIS AFTERNOON AND POSSIBLY EVENING. SO, ACTON LOWELL, YOU’RE SEEING QUITE A BIT OF RAIN, HEAVY DOWNPOURS ALONG WITH GUSTY WINDS UPWARDS OF 60MPH. WE’VE SEEN A FEW DAMAGE REPORTS, DOWNED TREES, DOWNED POWER LINES WHERE THIS IS MOVING CURRENTLY NORTHEAST AT AROUND 35MPH. THE STRONGEST WINDS HEADED HEADING ITS WAY TOWARDS THE NORTH SHORE. SO, LOWELL, YOU’LL SEE YOU’RE SEEING SOME GUSTY WINDS AS IS HEADED TOWARDS ROCKPORT AS WELL AS NEWBURYPORT. HAVERHILL. YOU’RE GOING TO SEE SOME GUSTY WINDS OUT OF THIS AS WELL. Parts of eastern and northern Massachusetts are seeing an abrupt change to the dry weather we’ve enjoyed for the last week Friday afternoon. “After this moves through, we may still be tracking a few severe thunderstorm warnings or a few severe thunderstorms, as well, for the remainder of this afternoon and possibly evening,” said StormTeam 5 meteorologist David Williams.

The storms may include 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail.

“We’ve seen a few damage reports, downed trees, downed power lines where this is moving currently northeast at around 35 miles per hour,” Williams said.

Some hail damage to vehicles is expected, and there may be wind damage to roofs, siding and trees.
