I’M ED HARDY AND I’M MARIA STEPHANOS. INVESTIGATORS SAY THE ROBBER HELD UP TWO STORES, ONE ON NEWBURY STREET LAST NIGHT, ANOTHER ON COMM AVE ON WEDNESDAY. AND TONIGHT OUR PETER ELIOPOULOS IS LIVE IN KENMORE SQUARE WITH MORE ON THE SEARCH FOR THAT SUSPECT PETER. YEAH, THAT’S RIGHT UNDER MARIA. THE FIRST ONE HAPPENED HERE ON CALM AVE. HERE. THE SUSPECT RAN OUT OF THE STORE. THE CLERK THERE CHASED HIM AND HE RAN TOWARD BOYLSTON STREET, BUT GOT AWAY. RIGHT NOW, BOSTON POLICE ARE LOOKING FOR THIS MAN ACCUSED OF ROBBING TWO BOSTON SMOKE SHOPS. TWO BLOCKS APART IN THE PAST TWO DAYS. THE FIRST ONE HAPPENING ON COMM AVON KENMORE SQUARE. A MAN WHOM THE CLERK ESTIMATES IS IN HIS 60S, COMES IN DEMANDING CIGARETS AND CASH. THE CLERK TELLING US OFF CAMERA. THE MAN SAID HE HAD A GUN. HE THEN GOES INTO THE CASH DRAWER AND GETS ABOUT $500. THE ROBBER THEN WENT FOR THE CIGARETS. AS THE CLERK PRESSES THE PANIC BUTTON, BUT THE SUSPECT RAN OUT SHORTLY AFTER THE SECOND ROBBERY HAPPENING YESTERDAY AT CITY SMOKE SHOP ON BUSY NEWBURY STREET. WHAT LOOKS LIKE THE SAME MAN WEARING THE SAME CLOTHES COMES IN SAYING HE HAS A GUN AGAIN. THE CLERK HANDS OVER SEVERAL CARTONS OF CIGARETS AND THEN OPENS THE CASH DRAWER FOR THE SUSPECT, WHO LATER TAKES THE CLERK’S PHONE SO HE CAN’T CALL 911. BOSTON POLICE PUTTING OUT THIS COMMUNITY ALERT, ASKING THE PUBLIC TO BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THE SUSPECT, WHO THEY SAY FLED TOWARD BOYLSTON STREET AFTER BOTH ROBBERIES. THAT’S KIND OF SAD, A LITTLE BIT FREAKY. BU STUDENTS WHO LIVE NEAR WHERE THIS HAPPENED ARE CONCERNED.
