It’s the question we get asked the most: Yes, Oprah does taste, test and try every single item on Favorite Things.

She happily receives recommendations from friends, neighbors, the Oprah Daily team and her daughter-girls (alumnae of the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls) for gift ideas, small and large, at all different price points, and then methodically goes through them one by one.

She especially likes to include products from small businesses to give visibility to founders with a dream who put everything into bringing their vision to life. “That’s what’s so authentic about this list,” says Adam Glassman, Oprah Daily’s creative director, who has spearheaded the Favorite Things searches for years. “They really are her favorite things,” he says.

And while she’s certainly always on the lookout for something fresh and new to add to the list, Oprah also doesn’t hesitate to include the same brands over multiple years.

For instance, this is the 10th list in a row for which she has selected Footnanny products from Gloria Williams, her longtime pedicurist. Her logic is simple: She loves these products, so why not continue to share them?
