Mass. Stop & Stop store employee assaulted by three juveniles, police say

An employee at the Stop and Shop located at 40 Furlong Drive in Revere, Massachusetts, was assaulted by three juvenile females on Thursday, police said. Police said the three girls were causing what they described as “a considerable disturbance” in the store.According to Revere police, when asked by a store employee to leave the store, the juveniles became uncooperative and assaulted the worker. Police said the trio punched the victim in the face and hit the worker on the top of their head.Investigators said one of the juveniles kicked the victim while others watched and recorded the incident. Revere police chief David Callahan said the incident began after it was reported that three youths were “horsing around” with Marty, the robot that roams around the aisles of the grocery store and alerts workers to any spills or other issues. Police said after assaulting the store employee, the juveniles ran from the store. Investigators said they were located at a nearby store. Revere police said one juvenile was placed under arrest and charged with multiple counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace. Police said the juvenile also had several outstanding arrest warrants.Police said four other juvenile subjects will be summoned to Chelsea District Court at a later date. “We’re thankful that no one was seriously injured during this incident,” a spokesperson for Stop & Shop said in a written statement. “Stop & Shop would like to thank the Revere Police and emergency personnel for their quick assistance in handling this issue.”
