
Man struck by vehicle that fled scene of Route 44 crash, officials say

Police in Massachusetts are investigating a pedestrian hit-and-run crash that happened on Route 44 in Dighton, according to authorities.A Dighton police officer was driving their cruiser on Route 44 on Thursday when they found an injured man in the road near the Taunton line, officials said.According to Dighton police, it appears the man was walking along the shoulder of Route 44 when he was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.The man was transported to an area hospital by Dighton firefighters. Officials said his condition is unknown.Dighton police said that based on the damage at the crash scene, they believe a Toyota vehicle struck the man. Police did not, however, know the model year of the Toyota vehicle involved in the pedestrian crash.Anyone who has information about the crash is asked by authorities to call the Dighton Police Department at 508-669-4500.
