Firefighters in the city of Boston battled two large fires in multi-story homes in two separate parts of the city early Saturday morning.The first three-alarm fire started after 2 a.m. Saturday at 65 Pratt St. in the Allston section of the city. Large flames could be seen shooting from the two-and-a-half-story home, with thick black smoke covering the neighborhood located between Brighton Avenue and the Massachusetts Turnpike. Eight residents were displaced by the blaze, according to Boston fire. One resident was transported to an area hospital.Damage was estimated to be around $2 million, Boston fire investigators said. The intense heat from the fire melted the siding of an adjacent home at 67 Ashford St., Boston fire said. Around 6 a.m., Boston firefighters rushed to the scene of a second fire in a triple-decker at 418 Bowdoin Street in the city’s Dorchester neighborhood. Video showed heavy fire coming from the top floor of a three-family home, extending to an adjacent three-family home. Firefighters said one resident was displaced by the fire, and no injuries were reported. Investigators were working to determine the cause of both fires.
