Fake cops rob man of $240,000 in brazen Boston robbery, police say
A brazen scheme in which robbers were able to get away with nearly a quarter million dollars is under investigation on Friday, Boston police said.At 9:38 a.m., an East Boston man reported to police that he took out $240,000 in cash from Berkshire Bank near Fenway Park earlier in the day.He said later on Meridian Street in East Boston, two men walked up behind him, identified themselves as police officers and said they had a warrant for his arrest, police said. When the man then got out of his car, the men got in and drove off. The black Audi A6 was found about 100 yards away with an empty money bag. The man said he had another $1,100 cash in his wallet, which was in the car. From Sky 5, the car was seen roped off with yellow police tape near the intersection of Border and Lexington streets with detectives photographing it. The car was towed from the scene.Boston police said both suspects are described as white or white Hispanic men wearing dark clothing and caps. No weapons were shown in the robbery, and no injuries were reported, police said.
