WHERE THE GIRLS WERE FOUND SAFE. WELL, JEANNE, THIS PLAZA OFF OF KEY ROAD IN KEENE HAS CLEARED THE SCENE HERE. OFFICIALS TELLING US THAT A CALL CAME IN FROM A CONCERNED CITIZEN JUST BEFORE TEN THIS MORNING, SAYING THEY FOUND A CAR MATCHING THE DESCRIPTION THAT WAS SENT OUT. I WANT YOU TO TAKE A LOOK AT THIS VIDEO. THIS HAPPENING THIS MORNING AS POLICE APPROACHED THE CAR. AFTER THAT CALL, YOU CAN SEE THREE OFFICERS WITH THEIR GUNS DRAWN WALKED TOWARDS THE 2017 WHITE SUBARU IMPREZA, WHICH WAS THE CAR IN QUESTION. TONYA HANSON, WHO SENT US THE VIDEO, SAYS YOU CAN HEAR POLICE YELLING FOR THE MAN INSIDE THE VEHICLE TO STAY INSIDE OF THE CAR, SHE SAYS. THEN POLICE TOOK 37 YEAR-OLD DUSTIN DUREN INTO CUSTODY WITHOUT TROUBLE AS HE WALKED TOWARDS THEM. HE IS THE FATHER OF THE FOUR YEAR-OLD AND ONE YEAR-OLD SISTERS. TONYA HANSON SAYS IT’S A RELIEF THAT THIS ENDED WITH BOTH GIRLS SAFE. MY SON RECOGNIZED THE CAR AND SAID, OH MY GOSH, MOM, THAT’S THE AMBER ALERT FROM THIS MORNING. AND, UM, YOU KNOW, IT WAS AFTER THE POLICE HAD ALREADY FIGURED OUT THERE WAS SOME CITIZENS, I GUESS, WHO RECOGNIZED THE CAR EARLIER AND HAD CALLED. AND TONYA SAYS SHE WAS SURPRISED THAT ALL OF THIS ENDED HERE IN KEENE SAYING THINGS LIKE THIS DON’T HAPPEN HERE, AND THAT SHE FEELS FOR THE FAMILY THAT IS GOING THROUGH SOMETHING INCREDIBLY TRAUMATIC. THE STATE POLICE MAJOR CRIMES VAN AND BERLIN POLICE REMAIN PARKED OUTSIDE. 1063 MAIN STREET HERE IN BERLIN. NOW, ABOUT 1030 LAST NIGHT, A POLICE RESPONDED TO THE APARTMENT HERE. BUT AT THIS POINT, WE DON’T KNOW WHY. WHY THEY WERE CALLED. POLICE SAY WHEN THEY ENTERED, THEY FOUND THE BODY OF 31 YEAR OLD CAITLIN NAFZIGER INSIDE THE APARTMENT. RIGHT NOW, NAFZIGER WAS CONFIRMED BY THE ATTORNEY GENERAL’S OFFICE AS THE MOTHER OF THE GIRLS AT THE CENTER OF THE AMBER ALERT. NOW, UH, HER DEATH WAS CALLED SUSPICIOUS, AND AN AUTOPSY IS PLANNED FOR LATER THIS AFTERNOON. NOW, THE MAN AT THE CENTER OF THIS CASE, DUSTIN DURAN. WELL, HE DID HAVE VETERAN’S PLATES ON HIS CAR. AND JUST A HOUSE UP. IS THIS VFW HERE? BUT THE MAN WHO’S BEEN RUNNING IT FOR 20 YEARS SAID IT HAD NO CONTACT WITH DURAN. ALTHOUGH HE BELIEVES THEIR SURVEILLANCE CAMERA DID CATCH A SHOT OF THE DURAN’S CAR GOING BY LAST NIGHT. AND THEY HAVE SHARED THAT VIDEO WITH POLICE. REPORTING LIVE IN BERLIN, RAY BREWER WMUR. AND SHE IS THE MOTHER OF THE TWO GIRLS. THE AMBER ALERT FOR THE 1 IN 4 YEAR OLD GIRLS WAS ISSUED AT 410 THIS MORNING, WITH THOSE AMBER ALERTS BEING SENT TO CELL PHONES IN MUCH OF NEW ENGLAND, AND NEWS NINE LEARNED THE CHILDREN WERE FOUND SAFE JUST BEFORE 1030 THIS MORNING OUTSIDE OF AN APPLEBEE’S IN KEENE, WHICH YOU JUST SAW THEIR FATHER, DUSTIN DURAN, TAKEN INTO CUSTODY. Video from a witness shows the dramatic end to an Amber Alert search for two children in New Hampshire on Friday morning after their mother was found dead.Police were searching for two siblings, ages 1 and 4, who were last seen at 8 p.m. Thursday in Berlin with their father, 37-year-old Dustin Mark Duren.The Amber Alert came to an end in an Applebee’s parking lot in Keene. Investigators said someone who spotted the car in the parking lot recognized it from the Amber Alert and called police at approximately 10 a.m. Video provided to WMUR by a witness shows three armed officers ordering the Duren out of the white Subaru Impreza that was referenced in the Amber Alert. Duren can be seen turning around with his hands up, walking backward toward police and kneeling on the ground.”My son recognized the car and said, ‘Oh my gosh, Mom, that’s the Amber Alert from this morning,” said Tonya Hansen, who took the video. “It was after the police had already figured it out. There were some citizens who recognized the car earlier and called.”Officials said the 4- and 1-year-old sisters were checked by medical personnel and are OK.The Amber Alert was issued after police went to an apartment on Main Street in Berlin Thursday night and found the children’s mother, Caitlyn Naffziger, 31, dead. Duren, who was described by police as armed and dangerous, was taken into police custody.An autopsy for Naffziger has been scheduled for Friday.

The Amber Alert came to an end in an Applebee’s parking lot in Keene. Investigators said someone who spotted the car in the parking lot recognized it from the Amber Alert and called police at approximately 10 a.m.
