Donate toys to Home for Little Wanderers at Holiday Lights on Boston Common
Boston’s “Holiday Lights” tree lighting on the Common is a beloved holiday tradition, but it’s also an opportunity to give back. If you’re planning on going, you can bring a toy for The Home for Little Wanderers’ annual Big Wishes Gift Drive.The Home for Little Wanderers provided more than 2,100 gift cards and essential items to children and families and fulfilled more than 3,000 holiday wishes last year. This is the first year The Home will open the Toy Room and collect gifts since the pandemic.You can drop off a toy at the “Holiday Lights” Boston Common Holiday Tree Lighting on Thursday, Nov. 30, from 6-8 p.m.Holiday Lights will be televised live from the Boston Common on Nov. 30 from 7-8 p.m. and will stream live and on-demand on Very Local powered by WCVB.This year marks the city’s 82nd annual tree lighting celebration on the Common and the 52nd year that Nova Scotia has gifted a tree to the people of Boston. The “Tree for Boston,” a 40-year-old, 45-foot white spruce tree, will grace Boston Common throughout the holiday season and is an annual gift to Boston from Nova Scotia as a thank you for sending emergency aid to the province after the explosion in Halifax Harbor over 100 years ago.
