IN THE LAST HOUR, CORRECT? WELL, YES, IT DID AND IT WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING AS IT MADE ITS FIRST VOYAGE THROUGH THE CITY OF LYNN. IT IS CHRISTMAS EVE HERE AND THE MAGIC IS HERE IN LYNN. JUST A LITTLE WHILE AGO THESE SIDEWALKS WERE PACKED WITH PEOPLE WAVING AT THE NEARLY 100 FLOATS. PARTICIPATE IN THIS YEAR’S ANNUAL PARADE. FROM CHRISTMAS LIGHTS TO SOME WELL-KNOWN FACES, THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT IS ALIVE IN LYNN IN ITS 37TH YEAR, THE LYNN CHRISTMAS EVE PARADE DRAWS HUNDREDS, LINING. THE STREET, WAVING AND SHARING CHRISTMAS CHEER. THIS YEAR, ORGANIZERS ARE EXPECTING THE EVENT TO BE EVEN GRANDER THAN EVER, SAYING IT’S A TRADITION THAT IS ABOUT MORE THAN JUST THE. SHOW. I’VE BEEN DOING IT SINCE I WAS PROBABLY 4 OR 5. I STARTED DRESSING IN COSTUMES AND NOW LOOK AT ME. I’M ORCHESTRATING IT, YOU KNOW? IT’S ALWAYS GREAT, AND OUR MISSION IS ALWAYS TO BRING HAPPINESS AND CHEER TO THE CITY. YOU KNOW, LYNN IS A CITY THAT’S BELOW POVERTY RATE A LOT OF THE TIMES. THIS IS CHRISTMAS FOR A LOT OF THESE FAMILIES. SO ANYTHING WE CAN DO TO, YOU KNOW, HELP THIS CHRISTMAS SPIRIT IN THE CITY AND SEE THOSE KIDS AND PARENTS SMILING AND, YOU KNOW, EVEN SHEDDING TEARS. THAT’S WHAT WE DO IT FOR NOW, AS THE PARADE MAKES ITS WAY THROUGH THE CITY TO VERY SPECIAL, GUESTS ARE GETTING READY TO MAKE A VERY SPECIAL APPEARANCE. WE HAVE HEARD SANTA’S AND MRS. CLAUS ARE STOPPING IN LYNN BEFORE THE MAN IN RED. GETS READY FOR THE BIG NIGHT AHEAD. AND THE ONLY THING MISSING OUT HERE TONIGHT IS SNOW. BUT WITH THAT BEING SAID, IT IS AN ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL CHRISTMAS EVE OUT HERE IN LYNN AND YOU STILL HAVE TIME TO CATCH UP WITH THE PARADE ON ITS ROUTE. IT WRAPS UP JUST AROUND 930

A big Christmas Eve parade has been a cherished tradition on the North Shore of Massachusetts since 1986.Hundreds of people lined the streets Sunday to watch the nearly 100 floats participating in the Lynn Christmas Eve Parade, which is in its 37th year.The parade route covers more than 23 miles and lasts approximately 5 hours.The Lynn Christmas Eve Parade Committee was expecting this year’s event to be grander than ever with several special guest characters joining in the procession, which culminates in a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.”I’ve been doing it since I was probably 4 or 5. I started dressing in costumes, and now look at me, I’m orchestrating it,” said Jordan Avery, one of the organizers of the Lynn Christmas Eve Parade. “It’s always great, and our mission is always to bring happiness and cheer to the city. Lynn is a city that’s below poverty rate. A lot of the times, this is Christmas for a lot of these families, so anything we can do to help the Christmas spirit in the city and see those kids and parents smiling — and even shedding tears — that’s what we do it for.”The parade started at about 5 p.m. on Summer Street and is scheduled to conclude at about 9:45 p.m. near the LynnGate Plaza.Related stories:
