However, the weekend will not be a complete washout, according to StormTeam 5.Info: Interactive Radar | Hour-by-Hour FuturecastOn Saturday, temperatures will climb toward 80 degrees across central and northern Massachusetts. With a wind from the south-southwest, cooler 60s and 70s will once again be felt south of Boston, toward the South Coast, Cape and Islands. While the bulk of Saturday will be dry, clouds will increase and the chance for showers and thunderstorms will increase quickly after 3 p.m. Some of the late-afternoon storms may turn severe with the possibility of damaging winds.”On a scale of 1 to 5, we are at a level 2 for the severe weather threat,” StormTeam 5 meteorologist Kelly Ann Cicalese said. “From Manchester, NH moving out into Hartford, CT, really central and western Massachusetts stretching down through areas in New York. Within these thunderstorms and these locations, damaging wind, localized flooding, with some heavy downpours, frequent lightning and hail are concerns.” Cicalese said the possibility of thunderstorms will not reach Boston until later in the day on Saturday.”Thunderstorms will be possible in the city, though they’re not as strong as in areas to the west,” Cicalese said. “We’re watching the storm potential until about 9 p.m. (Saturday).”The chance of showers will stick around through Saturday night and linger into Sunday. “(Sunday) features a lot of clouds to start, and it’s not until after 3 p.m. that I think we’ll start to see more showers, initially looking scattered, but as we move into the evening, more widespread rainfall moves in,” Cicalese said. “That’s going to bring us soaking rain for late overnight Sunday and heading into your early Monday.”The weather pattern will stay active into next week, with showers expected Monday through Wednesday.
