2 hurt, 4 juveniles in custody after fight breaks out near Lawrence High School

A fight involving several juveniles near a high school is under investigation in Lawrence, Massachusetts, police said. On Monday, members of the Lawrence Police School Resource Officer Unit and the Patrol Division responded to Sullivan Park, which is located adjacent to the Lawrence High School Campus, for a report of a male being assaulted. Responding officers encountered a juvenile male lying on the basketball court located in the park, accompanied by another juvenile male who had a fresh cut on his face, police said. As the two were being treated by emergency medical technicians, both of their parents arrived on the scene. They were then taken to Lawrence General Hospital. Investigators identified five juveniles involved in the incident. Three were taken into custody without incident on Monday, and a fourth was taken into custody Tuesday morning. The individuals involved are not students from Lawrence High School, police said. The incident is not considered random, and there is no threat to the public, police said. The investigation is ongoing and further charges are anticipated, police said.
