Astronomer, tech company at center of viral Coldplay concert kiss cam video, releases statement
What started out as a classic “kiss cam” moment quickly spiraled Wednesday as two Astronomer executives were caught embracing at a Coldplay concert at Gillette Stadium.

A New York-based tech company has launched a formal investigation after two of its executives were caught on camera in an embarrassing moment during a Coldplay concert at Gillette Stadium this week — a viral video that took the internet by storm.
What started out as a classic “kiss cam” moment quickly spiraled Wednesday as the video feed came upon a couple embracing and swaying to the music. The pair blanched as they realized they were on the big screen, the woman turning her back to the camera and the man ducking out of sight.
“Uh oh, what?” Coldplay frontman Chris Martin remarked in response, chuckling. “Either they’re having an affair, or they’re just very shy.”
Video of the incident made the rounds on social media, and before long, internet sleuths identified the pair as Andy Byron, CEO of tech company Astronomer, and Kristin Cabot, the company’s chief people officer. Neither has commented publicly on the incident, though a fake statement attributed to Byron circulated online Thursday.
Astronomer shared a statement Friday saying its board of directors has initiated a formal investigation into the matter, “and we will have additional details to share very shortly.”
“Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding,” the company said. “Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability.”
Astronomer also disputed viral rumors that a woman standing next to Byron and Cabot in the video was also one of its employees. The woman in question was not at the concert, and no other Astronomer employees were in the video, the company explained.
Byron joined Astronomer in 2023. Ry Walker, the company’s co-founder and former CEO, shared some basic impressions of Byron and “ColdplayGate” in a series of posts on X, though he clarified he hasn’t been involved with the company or its board since 2022.
“I’ve found Andy to be professional, I’ve only ever been on a call with him once,” Walker wrote. “Everyone on the team has praised his leadership to me. So I think this is an unfortunate development that comes as a big surprise.”
