‘Super Troopers’ stars take a break from filming sequel to visit Fenway Park
Stars of the upcoming “Super Troopers 3” movie watched the Red Sox beat the Yankee at Fenway Park on Sunday.

The funnymen behind the 2001 comedy classic “Super Troopers” took a break from filming the sequel “Super Troopers 3” to catch a Red Sox game at Fenway Park on Sunday.
Members of the Broken Lizard comedy troupe — Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske — joined frequent collaborator (and Boston native) Nat Faxon to watch the Red Sox defeat the Yankees, 6-4.
Broken Lizard, best known for “Super Troopers,” “Beerfest,” and the sitcom “Tacoma FD,” officially announced that “Super Troopers 3” had begun production on August 20.
For those who haven’t seen it, “Super Troopers” concerns a group of prank-pulling, syrup-chugging highway patrolmen in the fictional town of Spurbury, Vermont. Under the command of the gruff Chief Grady (Brian Cox, “Succession”), the shenanigans-loving troopers face the prospect of losing their jobs due to budget cuts before uncovering a massive drug conspiracy.
For the 2018 sequel “Super Troopers 2,” Broken Lizard used Massachusetts as a stand-in for Vermont. Chandrasekhar primarily filmed scenes in Belchertown, and also used Acton, Concord, Groton, Hopkinton, Leominster, Marlborough, Southborough, and Sudbury.
Based on behind-the-scenes videos posted by Broken Lizard on Instagram, it’s hard to say for sure where exactly “Super Troopers 3” is being filmed — and Fox Searchlight did not respond to a request for comment. But based on the number of Boston-based film production professionals currently working on the movie, it appears highly likely that “Super Trooper 3” is filming somewhere in (or near) the Bay State.
Along with the Broken Lizard quintet, both Cox and Marisa Coughlan will reprise their roles from the first two “Super Troopers” films in “ST3.” Also joining the cast for the new entry are Faxon, Andrew Dismukes (“Saturday Night Live”), Chace Crawford (“I Feel Pretty”), and Rory Scovel (“I Feel Pretty”).
