Ayo Edebiri, Julia Roberts, Andrew Garfield butt heads in tense first trailer for ‘After the Hunt’
“The Bear” star and the “Pretty Woman” actress are teaming up for “After The Hunt,” a new movie from “Challengers” director Luca Guadagnino.

Fresh off the release of the fourth season of “The Bear,” Ayo Edebiri is matching wits with Julia Roberts and Andrew Garfield in her newest movie.
The Dorchester native is one of the stars of “After the Hunt,” a dark, provocative drama directed by Luca Guadagnino (“Challengers,” “Call Me By Your Name”).
The film is about a professor (Roberts) at a prestigious college who faces a moral and ethical dilemma when a star student (Edebiri) claims that one of her closest colleagues (Garfield) “crossed a line” following a party.
The accusation puts Roberts’ character at “a personal and professional crossroads” while also threatening to resurface “a dark secret from her own past,” according to an Amazon Studios plot synopsis.
The trailer begins with Edebiri and Garfield’s characters trading barbs over the perceived softness of Gen Z, while Roberts’ professor watches with amusement.
“All your generation, you’re scared of saying the wrong thing,” Garfield says. “When did offending someone become the preeminent cardinal sin?
“Maybe it’s around the same time your generation began making sweeping generalizations about ours,” Edebiri shoots back.
During an appearance at CinemaCon in April, Edebiri said that “After the Hunt” is the type of movie designed to spark conversations.
“This is a movie that’s built to see with other people, to talk about and discuss and just feel,” Edebiri said.
Along with Edebiri, Garfield, and Roberts, “After the Hunt” also features Springfield native Chloë Sevigny and Michael Stuhlbarg (“A Serious Man”).
“After the Hunt” will be released in theaters nationwide on October 17.
