Service has resumed on four different Commuter Rail lines Wednesday night, after downed catenary wires in the area near Back Bay Station caused trains to be delayed during the evening commute”Framingham/Worcester, Needham, Franklin/Foxboro and Providence/Stoughton Line passengers may experience significant delays in both directions due to a downed catenary wire in the Back Bay area,” the MBTA announced Wednesday afternoon.Catenary wires refer to the overhead wires which power Amtrak Acela and Northeast Regional trains, which pass through Back Bay Station.Additionally, the MBTA announced that a Fairmount Line train was canceled Wednesday afternoon, due to a downed tree in the area of Four Corners/Geneva Station.”Fairmount Line Train 944 (4:00 pm from Readville) has been cancelled today due to a downed tree in the Four Corners/Geneva area,” the MBTA said. “The next inbound train from Readville is Fairmount Line Train 946 (4:30 pm from Readville).”The MBTA has not yet announced what caused the wires and the tree to fall down.According to Keolis, who operates the Commuter Rail, “Amtrak personnel are on scene making repairs and two tracks are open through the area.”
