Pizza delivery cars stolen in similar schemes, Quincy police say

Police are searching for two suspects after two pizza delivery cars were stolen in Quincy, Massachusetts, in similar incidents. In the first incident, a delivery driver met one of the suspects, a man wearing dark clothes and a mask, on the porch of the delivery location on Berlin Street. Simultaneously, another suspect got into the car and drove away. The first man ran from the scene on foot. A woman who lives at the home where the suspects had the order delivered said she was in her home talking on the phone when the driver was robbed of his car. “They ordered pizza using this address, and when the pizza guy came, he stopped there. Guy supposedly said he had to get his money. In the meantime, someone jumped out on that side and jumped into the car,” the woman said. The delivery driver’s car was eventually recovered, but not before the suspects crashed it, damaging the front bumper. On Sunday, a similar incident happened at 803 Southern Artery in Quincy at 11 p.m. A bogus order for a pizza was placed, and when the driver arrived and left the car, the suspects hopped in and drove off. That delivery driver, Paul Bates, told NewsCenter 5 he thought it was a run-of-the-mill pizza delivery when he pulled up to the home. “They were completely blacked out, black shirts, hoodies, surgical masks, I said a couple nice things – they jumped in the vehicle and off they went,” Bates said. His delivery vehicle was recovered undamaged.”I’m out earning a living; everyone should be doing the same thing instead of stealing someone’s car, stealing money, or property,” Bates said.Police are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call the Quincy Police Department’s non-emergency line at 617-479-1212.
